Die Rosterplaner der Stuttgart Surge arbeiten weiter an der Offensive und geben zwei Verpflichungen für die kommende Saison auf der Position des Tight Ends bekannt: Philip Eichhorn und Aurieus Minton!
Philip Eichhorn wird auch 2025 für die Surge auflaufen und geht damit in seine dritte Saison bei den Schwaben. Der Tight End stand in der vergangenen Saison in insgesamt 12 Partien auf dem Platz und will in diesem Jahr alles geben – sein Ziel: „Einen Ring mit meinen Brüdern in einem Heimfinale in Stuttgart zu gewinnen.“ Das erste Mal ELF-Luft schnupperte der gebürtige Göppinger 2022, als er für die Leipzig Kings spielte. Von 2016 bis 2018 war der 1,91 Meter große und 113 Kilogramm schwere Eichhorn bei den Albershausen Crusaders und von 2019 bis 2021 bei den Marburg Mercenaries sportlich zuhause.
Ein Wiedersehen mit einem alten Bekannten feiert die Surge durch die Vertragsunterzeichnung von Aurieus Minton. Der im englischen Newham geborene deutsche Tight End spielte bereits in der Saison 2023 mit dem Blitz auf dem Helm. Mit einer Körpergröße von 2,08 Metern verfügt Minton über enorme Fang- und Durchsetzungsqualitäten, mit denen er bereits zahlreiche Titel gewinnen konnte: Während seiner Zeit bei den Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns von 2009 bis 2022 gewann Minton viermal den German Bowl (2012, 2017, 2018, 2022), den CEFL Bowl (2021, 2022), wurde 2014 AFVD Rookie of the Year und holte sich mit der deutschen Nationalmannschaft 2014 die Europameisterschaft und 2017 die Silbermedaille bei den World Games. Zu vielen seiner Mitspieler hat Minton ein sehr gutes Verhältnis, vor allem aber zu seinem Head Coach Jordan Neuman, weshalb Aurieus Minton eine weitere Saison für Stuttgart spielen möchte: „Ich habe mein ganzes Leben lang für Jordan Newman gespielt. Er ist mein Mentor und ich bin so dankbar, dass ich ihn in meinem Leben getroffen habe. Ich habe schon mit einigen der Jungs von 2023 gespielt und sie sind wie Brüder geworden. Ich möchte auch alles für ihn, das Team und die Fans geben.“
Extension with Philip Eichhorn and return of Aurieus Minton!
The Stuttgart Surge roster planners continue to work on the offense and announce two new signings for the upcoming season on tight end position: Philip Eichhorn and Aurieus Minton!
Philip Eichhorn will continue to play for the Surge in 2025, entering his third season with the Swabians. The tight end played in 12 games last season and wants to give his all this year - his goal: "Winning a ring with my brothers in a home final in Stuttgart." The native of Göppingen got his first taste of ELF action in 2022, when he played for the Leipzig Kings. From 2016 to 2018, Eichhorn, who is 1.91 meters tall and weighs 113 kilograms, was at home with the Albershausen Crusaders and from 2019 to 2021 with the Marburg Mercenaries.
The Surge celebrate a reunion with an old acquaintance with the signing of Aurieus Minton. The German tight end, who was born in Newham, England, already played with the flash on his helmet in the 2023 season. Standing at a height of 2.08 meters, Minton possesses tremendous catching skills that have helped him win numerous titles: During his time with the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns from 2009 to 2022, Minton won the German Bowl four times (2012, 2017, 2018, 2022), the CEFL Bowl (2021, 2022), was AFVD Rookie of the Year in 2014, and won the European Championship with the German national team in 2014 and the silver medal at the World Games in 2017. Minton has a very good relationship with many of his teammates, but especially with his head coach Jordan Neuman, which is why Aurieus Minton wants to play another season for Stuttgart: "I played my whole life for Jordan Newman. He is my mentor and I am so thankful that I met him in my life. I already played with some of the guys in 2023 and they became brothers. I also want to give everything I have for him, the team and the fans.“
